95% of my angling activity is centered in
the Great Lakes region of the upper Midwest,
which is home to some of the finest fishing
destinations and venues in all of North
America. I am conveniently located off the
shores of Lake Michigan in the large city
market of Chicago, Illinois - where business
opportunities are endless, and the target
market and its reach is infinite.
Although
urban fishing amongst huge sky-scrapers
isn't my forte, although it is kind of cool
when fish are around, I prefer to travel.
The map below indicates where I have spent
significant time for fishing. In the future,
when travel expenses never become an issue,
I hope to explore much of what North America
has to offer.
From April
through November, I do an extreme amount of
traveling between Chicago and the Northwoods
of Wisconsin. My family has been frequenting
the Lakeland region (Minocqua) since the
early 1960's and this region serves as my
fishing sanctuary and "office". I spend
roughly 80 days per year fishing the lakes
and rivers of Northern Wisconsin and in a
perfect year, I travel back and forth almost
every-other week/weekend. If I had the
choice of fishing anywhere in the world, I
wouldn't choose anywhere else over this.
Since the
turn of the century when the first
"Fisherman's Specials" plied their weekly
way north, the Lakeland area has been a
storied land of legendary fishing. The
Minocqua - Arbor Vitae - Woodruff area, in
Wisconsin, has one of the largest
concentration of fresh-water lakes in the
world, with over 3,200 listed. The area has
countless streams and brooks, and is also
the headwaters of the two largest river
basins in Wisconsin: the Wisconsin River and
the Chippewa-Flambeau Systems. All of these
waters are teaming with a wonderful variety
of sport and panfish.
It is truly
a beautiful region for fishing, the
outdoors, peace and serenity, and living the
care-free lifestyle. No stress and no
pressure. Best of all, it's a
fisherman's paradise.
