During the winter sport show season in early 2014, Llungen Lures and I struck a friendship that has resulted in an advertising partnership for both brands. I’ve since been assisting and advising the Llungen brand with my design expertise and marketing.
Llungen Lures, manufacturer of silicone bucktails and spinnerbaits for muskie and pike anglers, is co-operated by Matthew Gunkel of Carbondale, Illinois, and Chris and Cari Piha, who are stationed at Travis Air Force Base, California. Gunkel serves as chief operating officer and is responsible for new product development and manufacturing, while Piha serves as chief executive officer and manages all aspects of the business. Llungen Lures is manufactured in Carbondale, IL with all components manufactured in the United States. Its lures were originally designed and created by former owner and professional musky angler, Chad Cain.
DC-10 and DC-9 Double Bladed Bucktails
Llungen Lures makes a variety of baits for muskie fishing in all environments which includes its double bladed DC-10, DC-9, DC-8 bucktails, and single bladed S-8, S-9, and reefer models. Llungen single and double bladed magnum bucktails have been responsible for catching giant fish all over North America. No other bait displaces water and appeals to the lateral line of a musky like its magnum DC-10. Its three-skirted system provides a perfect bloom giving this bait a large profile and additional action setting it aside from other double ten variants. Productive whether burned over the tops of weeds or slow-rolled down deep breaks, the DC-10 produces big.
Nutbuster Spinnerbaits
Additionally, Llungen manufactures the best performing tandem spinnerbaits, the Nutbuster and its downsized version, the Nutbuster JR. The Tandem Nutbuster and Nutbuster JR is the finest spinnerbait available on the market today. Its unique Colorado and Willow tandem system add to diversity of this premium bait. Designed for a multitude of applications, it can be fished at slow, medium, or high speed retrieves. The Tandem Nutbuster refuses to “roll out” cast after cast. From grinding through cabbage, to dragging through rocks, to bumping through timber, no other spinnerbait on the market is as versatile or effective as the Tandem Nutbuster.
Llungen Lures and the materials used to manufacture them are all made in the U.S.A. Anglers seeking custom color combinations that aren’t showcased on the website are encouraged to contact Llungen for special orders and custom product requests.
Llungen Lures has expanded its standard color lineup to include 23 colors, and the full list of colors is displayed on the company’s website. For information on Llungen Lures, visit www.llungenlures.com or call (708) 710-6536 or (630) 737-3818.
