I’ve written about it before. But we’ve got lots of
new things happening which some anglers might not know about……
Since spring of 2009, I have been heavily involved
with a tackle company known as
Stankx Bait Company. I manage the website and online
presence, assist with the Facebook page, handle most marketing duties, create
all print and media designs, and offer input and ideas regarding lure designs
and color creations.
They are located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. All
products are made from home, and their bags may be found at select retail
locations throughout Michigan. Recently, the company has been slowly expanding
to other outlets throughout the country which includes the east coast, out west,
and even a stop down south at Lake Guerrero, Mexico. Majority of the sales are
made online through website and
shop module under the Facebook
page.
These days it seems online is the way to go.
Easy to order, and the easiest way to please customers by giving them everything
they request for.
The greatest aspect about this company is that
it caters to the multi-species angler (predominantly tournament and recreational
bass anglers) who are searching for an edge. That edge is custom plastics in the
form of color, profile, and scent. Stankx Bait Company can make everything, and
can create more than what most other major brand name bait companies do as far
as color styles are concerned. The big brands only have stock colors which have
likely been ripped off from other big and small companies…… Well, we have our
own original selection of stock colors created ourselves that can be accessed at
our
interactive color chart.
Additionally, we also have our own unique selection of custom colors which can
be found nowhere else but through our online shops.
ALL prices for stock colors are set at the
exceptionally affordable $3.99 value. For customs however, prices may vary
according to style and difficulty of the custom creation. The range for custom
plastics is within $4.99 to $6.99.
Here are some of the cool custom offerings by
Stankx, which have been brewed up by Travis Crosman within the last few months.
Not only is Travis a fisherman and worm brew
master, but he is an artist. He can mix, match and make everything that every
bass angler wants.
NOTE::
All Stankx products are brewed and infused with salts and
CB’s Hawg Sauce pheromones and fish
attractant.
DD. Tubez
I am a tube fanatic. I probably have more tubes
that anything else. Here are some of my all time favorites.
Kalabama
// Custom color Travis created for himself.
Betacarotubez : Fierce Orange base
with Bloody Peppers double dip. // I came up with
this color because I wanted a tube with a color that can match the orange and
red hues of the invasive rusty crayfish. I call this color
“smallmouth bass regurgitation.”
Oro : SBC black base, with 4 sizes
of gold, dark gold and holographic gold fleck. Your confidence holds more value
than the City of Gold. //
Created by our pro-staff member, Mike Dove. Got these for August. They fish best
along dark bottoms and dark rocks.
Midnight Stogy: SBC color chart #1
Black N’ Mild, double dipped in Oro. // I will be
getting these for next spring’s smallmouth bass massacres on my area rivers and
lakes for both locally and up north.
John Doe: SBC green pumpkin with
purple, holographic purple, three sizes of black and two sizes of garnet fleck.
// This will be outstanding for a Lake Michigan
goby imitator come next spring and summer.
Mudbugz Creature Bait
Mud Bugz in Natural Craw with
Fierce orange tipz. // These were released last
week. On my annual order for 2013.
Crawl Belly : SBC Crawfish base,
with copper, orange, brown and triple black fleck, surrounding a natural olive
belly. // This was a new release from last week.
Also on my annual order for 2013.
This one has no name, but it’s one of my customs
for 2012: It works outstanding for largemouth bass.
Flukez Jerkbait
Flukez in Bloody Peppers with
Chitown Craw back // Created for another
customer, I got mine for August. This is a great imitator for a mud minnow.
Ragas Rap remake with a twist
// I came up with this one in 2010 to match my favorite Rapala X-Rap suspending
jerkbait. Who needs an expensive hard bait when you can get it in soft plastic
duplicates?
HERO Craw
The HERO is our pride and joy, and was released
in spring 2012. Designed and molded at the Stankx laboratories it is 3.75″ in
length, and features a patented scent ball technology which releases scent
trails into the water as it is retrieved.
I fish these as a trailer for jigs, on a plain
leadhead jig, and as a heavy texas rig for flipping and pitching.
For largemouth bass these work awesome. For
smallmouths, I have yet to try.
Stankx Bait Company always has something
creative and available for the bass and multi-species angler. What you see above
are some of my favorites and the most common baits and colors that are in my
boat. One of my beliefs in fishing is the more you think outside of the box, the
odds against you improve.

creations, give us a hollar by visiting the website and facebook page.
